So not only did some jackass cut my engine harness out, but someone SNIPPED my dash harness plug off! So the plug that comes into the engine bay from the dash is snipped.

There are so many bizarre wiring problems with this car...not sure which way to go about handling it.

Here are my questions:

What year CRX / Civic car wiring harnesses can work on my 88 CRX Si?

What year CRX / Civic engine wiring harnesses can work on my 88 CRX Si?

Are there any other ways to go about fixing all the wiring problems? Does anyone have a DIY Wire Harness creating tutorial or something?

With all of these wiring problems, a lot of my friends are recommending that I just get a new car, but I really would rather save this rex (sentimental value).

So since I'm gutting the car anyway and prepping it for paint, I was just wondering does anyone know where I can buy either brand new or great condition FULL wiring harnesses (for the whole car)?

the 88 Si wiring harnesses are different from the 89-91 harnesses - you need the 88 Si harness

 

Damn. Does that apply to the full car harness? Or just the engine harness?

Shiiit. I had no idea that 88 CRX Si wiring was so exclusive.

Junk yards don't have anything...Honda doesn't make full harnesses anymore...I'm screwed =(

 

not quite - just get the 89-91 Si engine harness and adapt it - the main difference is in the connector at the firewall at the driver's side - the 88 Si had a rectangular 6-wire connector and the 89-91 had a round 8-wire connector - you would need a connector to splice on to your chassis harness at that location

 

Oh, well I'm looking for a complete overhaul. I'm willing to swap out the WHOLE harness kit (chasis harness, dash harness, doors, rear, engine, everything). So if I did that, then I should be good right?

Do you know anywhere that I can buy complete harness kits? Or most of them?

 

yes, if you did that you would be fine, but that is the hard way to do it - one problem would be that the 89-91 chassis harness has all of the wiring for the automatic seat belt retractors which the 88 doesn't have
