Default a few noob tuning ?'s

first off thank you for taking the time to answer these.

1.is there such thing as a concervative tune. or is there only one...done correctly. if there is a difference is it like mpg, relaibility, power.

2. could there be that much of a difference between two tuners. i have a turbo b16 and one tuner said he could squeeze like an extra 50 hp more than those other guys. does that make sense.

3. when you go to a tuner. do they only do the WOT or part throttle also.

I think you could easily find out most of this stuff just be quickly searching, but I'll answer anyway....

1. Yes and no. It depends on everything. Yes you can tune for reduced consumption at the cost of reduced power, and vice versa, but if the tune is done poorly (e.g. knocking under load up a hill) then reliability will be thrown out the window.

2. If you tune is that terrible, then yes they could find another 50HP. It's easy to crank up the boost and tune it a bit more to get another 50HP out of a setup depending on the bottlenecks.

3. Hopefully, tuners will do the whole gambit, but sometimes they spend more time doing WOT tuning because the car owners usually only drive in WOT But honestly, most tuners spend a bit of time all over the place.

HTH, keep reading.
