Default flywheel upgrade?

I have a 6th gen f23a4 engine. I was looking at light flywheels at summit racing. It said it was compatible with my car but it never asked if it was an automatic or manual. I have an automatic, i know autos have a flywheel but is it the same for both the auto an manual transmission? Anyone do put one of these in there auto if so, did it make a difference?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, got start somewhere.

i dont really have an answer to your question, but as for flywheels if your getting a lightweight one try to find one with steel teeth or w/e. My friend in his drag car (i know ur not exactly dealing with the same stress as a drag car but still) chipped teeth on several flywheels before he got the lightweight core ones that still had the steel or W/E teeth on it

I was trying to find out about this a while ago but, from my reading automatics have flex plates not flywheels. all the sites that I went to that sold them under compatibility said something like "1995 Honda Accord EX F22B1 Manual"

I think they all have flexplates... if im thinkin correctly the flex plate is right with the flywheel its just what the starter motor grabs onto to turn the car over.. or i could be wrong

Automatics do not have "Flywheels" in the traditional sense of the word. In the place of a Flywheel is a similar item called a "Flexplate"; a circular disc to which the Torque Converter mounts and can include the "Ring Gear" for starter engagement.
Automatics utilize the Torque Converter mass in place of that which would have been supplied from a "Flywheel"

Abet a really really skinny one yes.

Don't feel bad, they do perform some of the same functions (Provide a mounting surface for clutch / converter and of course the ring gear) so some confusion is expected.

Don't be afraid to ask questions; the only bad question is the one left unspoken.

But, are there any aftermarket parts to lower the inertia of the engine on an automatic so you can rev faster?

Like a light weight Torque Converter?
Not that I'm aware of.
Some aftermarket manufacturers (B&M ect) offer Torque Converters which offer higher stall speeds; effectively allowing the engine to reach it's power band before the converter locks up. You find these advertised in such places as JEG's and Summit Racing all the time.

Unfortunately these manufacturers haven't seen fit to embrace our market nitch yet; at least not to the point that they show up on Google searches.
