Icon2 B18c1 or b18c5

Ok i wanna do a b18C5 swap in my gsr but i wanna know if it would be worth spending the money.. because i dont wanna spend the money if im not going to notice a difference in performance thats worth it.. also if i go through with it i wont be doing anything to the car for a while but when i get the funds will it be better for a all motor build over the b18c1...i just need some helpfull opinions on which to go with

thanks

If your going to want an all motor setup and leave it stock then go with the b18c5.If you want to build the motor then go with the b18c1,simple as that.Depends on your budget too.

You should do some research of which 1 fits you the best though.

You could probably make as much or more power than a C5 using your C1 and a few mods like cams, valvetrain, intake manifold, chipped ECU and tuning, for less money than the C5 swap.

yea thats true the thing is tho like i said above my rings are going and the c1 needs a rebuild and after rebuild i wouldnt have money to fund all the things to get the c1 in the same power range as the c5 when i could spend just as much and get the c5 swap with more power if that makes sence or i dont know what im talking about ha... and i wouldnt be doing the rebulid it would be from a repituble shop

a c5 swap is a 4K swap if you have the money then do it.

a c5 swap is really really hard to find. the jdm b18c ITR is easier to come by and makes slightly more power. $3500-3700 shipped is the going rate for a 97 engine/trans combo. $2800 will get you the engine.

it really just depends on your budget and what goals you have. if you want less of a headache and got money. get a 98 spec b18c. 4300-4500 on average for a complete swap. or else you can rebuild your b18c1 and be able to put down decent numbers too.

I think you should rebuild your gsr motor and learn to do it yourself. Eventhough it make take a crap load of time to get everything right. It'll be a great experience for you.

If you are going to rebuild and plan on skunk 2 stage 2's you might as well go with higher compression pistons while your in there. Just my 2 cents.

if you're taking it to a shop, then maybe you should just get the itr swap. but you can rebuild the gsr to make it faster than the stock itr. you said your rings are bad rite so just put in itr piston, it will bump up the compression. since you're in the block already get a ls crank and rods for the extra torque. also, since the head is off put in the skunk2 stg 2 cams you wanted but you will need to get springs and retainers. but after all this you will need a tune. anything you do internally needs to be tuned. theres soo many things you can do, it really depends on you and how much money you have to spend. i say with this setup you'll spend around 2.5K.

unless you really want the itr engine for the name then get it, but it seems like you want more power so i say rebuild the gsr. gl man.

i say either build ur gsr or get a an ls longblock, preferrably jdm (most likely less miles), and piece together ur own turbo kit and run like 8 lbs on the stock motor. ls+gsr tranny+boost=mad nice setup

Yea really, no joke! The local junkyard sells any motor out of any car for 165 plus tax and another 65 for the tranny. A guy i know here went and found a b18b, got it for 250ish, bought a 92 civic sedan for 500 bux, and slapped together a turbo kit - maybe spend 1000 dollars, and it runs 13.4's consistently in the quarter, he tuned it really good though, so he spend about half on his whole care and motor and turbo kit then your thinking about spending on a b18c5
