Default 1987 Grand national for my 1998 Type R

There is some guy around the area who keeps on asking me if I would trade him my Type R for his Grand National.... both my car and his are in good condition. I know those Grand National's are capable of making some sick power... and both cars are rare. So I ask of all of you for an opinion. I've only had Honda's my entire life, and honeslty I don't know crap about them Buicks.... So I don't know if I should go for a trade like this....

GN are cool but I'd keep the R.

Do you do any racing or is this just a street car?

Unless it's a GNX, hell no. GN's are fun cars, but in a completely different way.

No, I don't race with my R. I Only baby it, and I have put it all back to 100% stock... except with the Spoon Steering wheel....

Damn..that's nuts.

If it were me, I'd say 'NO'.

I'm not a fan of modified cars.

On top of that, your car is already a nice addition.

Keep the R unless it is a REAL Grand National GNX.

GNX's are nearly 100K cars these days.

A clean 87 GN is harder to find than an R and likely to appreciate better.

my next door neighbor have a gnx and that car is sick look at it like this the r is one of the rarest cars around it was at a dealer near my house that had one a year ago 2 things happen 1 they was still asking more than 15k for it a car more than 9yrs old. they had 06 si selling for 15k, second the bastard child who traded in this car the same time he was trading it in ppl was already driving in trying to finace the car. the point im getting at if you traded in that boat they call a buick it will sit on that lot for a while plus its a buick at the end of the day its like having ek9 and wanting to by a hyundai genesis

i dont have an itr, but it would not cross my mind. 87? thats 22 yr old car, things are bound to go wrong, and the only thing GN can do is go fast in a straight line. Ill take handling over speed anyday.

If the car is in good shape, sure. It's it modified alot, I'd probably pass on it.

I'm a fan of american muscle(even though most don't consider it american muscle). I like my R alot though.

Tough call man.

Have you ever tracked your R? If not, I highly recommend it at least once before you seriously consider the trade. As cool as are GNs, I just don't feel that they can afford the fun as does the R. Ask the guy to let you take his car for a test drive, offer him the chance to drive the R, and pay close attention to his enjoyment while you ride along. It might give you a new perspective.

the GN is a garage queen or drag car. i would not DD one. the R handles better, is more reliable and i think better looking. all depends on what you're after. if you get an american DD the corvette is where it's at. anything after 2001 isn't half bad.

My neighbor has a black one, murdered out, it's pretty damn sick for a 20 year old car, when he starts it in the morning, the whole neighborhood wakes up...he's my alarm clock. I wouldn't trade ur R for it though

if your R is already a garage queen then I would trade in a heart beat, that is if the gn is MINT and unmodded. I definitely wouldnt daily the gn though. Plus you can stop worrying about every kid out there trying to jack your ****. different strokes for different fokes I guess. anyone wanna trade a gn for my R?
