My New 2009 Si - What's up with the horn???
Well, last Monday somone rear ended me and totaled my 05 Civic. Yesterday I FINALLY got an Si after drooling over it since the middle of 05.
Is the horn on the new civics supposed to be so high pitched? Or is my low horn dead or something? Also, when I pop the trunk it opens with a ton of force. It sounds like my trunk explodes open, plus it takes a good bit of force to close it, anyone else notice this on their civics?
Thanks!!

Don't worry, all "Richard's Honda" crap has been removed (including emblem above the "civic" emblem)

It's all normal. When you pop the trunk are you using the keyless or the lever? The keyless is louder when opening the trunk, at least in my car.
And I never understood why dealerships put all the extra badges and crap onto their cars. Do certain states do that? I ask because I haven't seen cali dealers do that.

Indiana has one sitcker where you bought it from and a front plate...they can be removed pretty easy. I dont think its normal either my trunk doesnt sound like that.

yes the horns are supposed to be high pitched.
your trunk is normal. and the closing part is normal too. mine was like that cuz the seals on the trunk are brand new. thats why. it takes some time to break them in.

I exagerated a little I guess on the trunk sound. its a lot louder than my other civics, but I can see that it might need to be broken in a little.
I hate it when I see a brand new pilot or an s2000 with a dumb dealer emblem on the back and all the owner has to do is rip that doodoo off!
thanks for the compliments guys. the only thing I hate about a brand new car is that it will never be as perfect as it is right now...:-(

my horn sounds diff than others. ive been meaning to take the bumper off to look. my trunk is also very hard to close usually takes two times
No Plans as of now... It's just so perfect the way it was born. Maybe XM radio, I had that in the rental car and fell in love with it. Maybe a radar detector. In a few years I'm sure I'll want the usual I/H/E and maybe Hondata...
For now though I can't wait until it hits 600 miles! I haven't reved past 5000 yet, or have pushed the gas all the way.

i dont know if this applies to the new civics but there should be rubber bump stops that you can screw in and out which adjusts height and how firm its closed...

couldnt hurt to play with them a little see if it helps
nice car BTW
i would personally bring it back and tell them to take the Richards emblem off above the civic emblem... no free advirtising here
For the horn you could install what Kidnkorner had on his sedan. He had the nautilus on there. I'd post a link to his thread but search is acting up again.
Replace your horn with a Stebel Compact Nautilus like I did.

The horn is a beast kidnkorner. I can live with mine, maybe I will upgrade it later. I upgraded our 03 Pilot horn to an 04 Pilot horn (much louder/deeper) and my wife thought I was weird...
I just pulled that Richard's emblem right off. It was stuck on with two sided tape. It didn't even leave any residue behind. I remember when those emblems used to be practically welded on and we had to cut them off with fishing line and spend hours getting all the glue off.
By the way, the new grill is way cooler than the old one, haha
