i got 6.5's in my rear, had to take all the paneling off and drill new holes but they dont rattle and they hit pretty hard they are bazookas
6.5 are both front and Rear. mounting depths are different but sizes are the same at least for a 98 3 door coupe

I mounted 6X9 Polk Audio's on my package tray in my 2dr GSR. They sound great but be aware that the tray bounces around a little bit just because of the weight of the speakers. Make sure you don't cut into the metal supports that run down the package tray for reinforcement.
Why do you want 6x9"s in the rear?
Just get a subwoofer instead in the trunk. The only reason for 6x9"s is a get a little bit more bass response. You CAN fit them in the rear sidepanel locations with a bit or modification and fancy woodworking by making a spacer ring, but it is not worth it.
The back cardboard cargo cover to too flimsy for speakers. Even if you reinforced the backside with 3/4" MDF, the cover still isn't attached to the car. Besides, it would look ghetto and tacky and everyone would see them...(theft potential)
