Suspension setup
I have a 94 integra ls. I am mainly going for looks with comfort. I want to get coilovers so that I can adjust the car to my desired level. I will probably lower it in the 1.0" - 2.0" range depending on what I decide works for me. What would be the best coilover/shock combo to achieve optimum ride comfort? I will not be racing so performance is not that important.
I hear you on that one. I am kind of overwhelmed with information and trying to make the right decision. I realize that most ofthese kits are comparable, but I would like to choose the one that best fits me. I am looking for the looks of being lowered but with the most comfort. I debating between these kits: Tein Type Basic Kit, Buddy Club N+ Spec kit, H&R street performance coilover kit, Eibach pro street s coilover. Anybody have an input on helping me narrow down this list? I was also wondering about the optional urethane isolated pillow-ball upper mount that comes with some of these kits. What purpose does it serve and is it worth the extra money for my needs? Thanks for any input! I still havent ruled out the mix and match with some GC coilovers and illumina or kyb adjustables.
Well, if you're not afraid to spend upwards of $600 then a strong setup to go with is the Koni/GC combo. Everyone and their mom brags about how it's a great choice, and I bit the bullet after letting go of my Skunk2 Pro-S coilovers...I'm probably not going to try anything out after this. I'm completely satisfied...the Koni Yellows are damn good shocks - the adjustability is hardly a gimmick - and GC springs are cheap and easy to swap in and out as I prefer.

My rates are 430f/375r - I wouldn't go any stiffer in the rear, as it is it's a bit harsh (not nearly as bad as th skunk2 pro-s!), but then you don't even need the rear springs to be that stiff if you mainly want a comfy ride. I had 325lb/in springs before these 375's and they were pretty damn comfy. I just wanted a stiffer ride feel/better performance.
A decent setup for what you're describing would be 350f/300r. It might be a little soft for my tastes, but I'm sure it would be a good compromise between comfort/performance, comfort of course being more important with these rates.
