Own a 2004 Honda Pilot and when we first start the car, the oil light flashes and continues to flash until we turn the car off.

If I turn off the car and re-start the car, the oil light goes away. I checked oil level and it is fine.

Any ideas?

bad oil pressure switch. most def....

 

Take the oil fill cap off and start the engine. You should see oil flying around everywhere inside (a flashlight will help). If you don't see much you don't have any oil pressure.

 

We have been driving it for weeks now, so we are getting oil pressure. If we assume that the oil pressure switch is bad, would that 'kick out' an check engine code?

 

You need to do an oil pressure test and an oil pressure switch test. Don't procrastinate on this.
