Default 165 tire question???

would running a 165/50 15 tire on a 6.5 inch rim be unsafe? im going on a 6 hour road trip this month and im gettin new tires soon and was thinking about getting these tires. ive seen them on the same size rim before and it doesnt look like too much of a stretch at all im just wondering if it'd be good for a long high way trip?

165mm = about 6.5 in so it shouldn't be too bad. Might have a slight stretch to it. Funny though, usually 195 is the standard on that width.

What kind of car is it? That is the most important question.

I've never heard of tires in that size. And neither Tire Rack nor Discount Tire Direct sells any. Are you sure you typed it in correctly? What make/model of tires are you considering in that size?

165/50-15, if it exists, would be MUCH too small for your car. Why wouldn't you just get the normal tire size for your car, which is 195/50-15? There are a lot of good tires in that size!

Im sorry but choosing a tire size that's waaayyy too small just for looks is incredibly stupid. Just get a 195 50 or at least a 185 width tire.

That Federal tire is NOT approved by the manufacturer for mounting on 15x6.5 and it would be unsafe to do so. DON'T DO IT!
