Default Gas Tank Straps -FYI for Track Peeps

To make a long story short --- Last year i had a student that broke both of the gas tank straps on his integra while on track. the gas tank was on the ground for a 1/2 a lap dragging on the ground. Luckly Kevin Helms - HC racer and owner of Honda Works had enough knowledge about how to repair them using --- towing straps and a little modification of the hangers.

Well yesterday was my first time braking a Gas tank strap while on track --- Only one, so i was able to rig up another strap and make it home.

This is a common problem with ITR year

integras or 95-2001 which is why SCCA makes people run another strap to hold the tank up.

This is an FYI --- IT will happen so be prepared with extra straps or rachet straps to help keep the gas tank up and off the ground.

Kind of crazy and sounds horrable in the car-- I was going about 115mph when this happened.

I didn't take any pictures since the only one strap broke, but make sure to keep this in mind.

That's hilarious actually. I can just imagine, "look man...that car is being chased by its own gas tank!"

I dont plan on tracking my car hardcore, but I think I'll replace those straps just for an extra piece of mind. Cant be too safe with your car.
