NOOB here.

So I was driving around today with the wife and we noticed a burning smell coming through the vent system. I popped the hood and there was smoke coming from the back of the engine. I took some pics when I got home and it looks like the leak is coming from the rear side cover. Is this common? I was going to do some searching on this but it's down.

Oil level was down about 1qt after about 2mo of daily driving. Here are some pics:

 

when I bought my car a few months ago, it was having the same issues. 116K miles. I got replacements from TASauto, and it took about 10 minutes to do both side covers. the old ones were dry and crumpled, and you could see the oil tracks, where the gasket had cracked and oil was seeping out. I still have a small leak from the oil pan gasket I'm fixing as soon as I finally order all the parts(I forgot about having to drop the exhaust so I had to order the y-pipe gaskets)

 

Cool, Hopefully my gaskets will be here before the weekend. Why does the exhaust have to be disconnected to get the pan out? Are the clearances really that tight?

 

look at your 1st pic, the pan has an indention for the exhaust, so it has to be dropped to pull the pan.
