Default Battery Light

Guys,

Driving to work Friday morning, the battery light comes on. drove the car to the nearest Auto Zone to have the battery checked. The battery is less than two years old. The light went off before I got to the Auto Zone. The clerk checked the battery and alternator and told me that they were fine. Driving back downtown the light comes back on and later the aBs light comes on also. The two lights have been coming on and off so I took the car to my mechanic. He'll look at it tomorrow.

my car is a 1995 Honda Accord EX with 330,000 miles on it. Anyone got an idea what it could be? I'm thinking maybe the alternator or voltage regulator.

Thanks,

Gary

Your Alternator is about to raise it's ugly head on you; hopefully not when you're driving in 'East Overshoe' somewhere.
The brushes have worn to the point where they've insufficient spring pressure behind them to maintain contact with the rotor.

The brush holder set isn't too difficult to replace (take the end cover off)

But at 330k, I wouldn't quibble. I'd go ahead and replace the alternator.

Thanks, Mr. Adams. The alternator was the problem.
