Default What is Your Brake Setup?!?! Oil filter?

Hey guys im looking into gettin new pads and oil filters for my race motor in my 99 si. i was wondering what brake setups you guys are running on your streetable drag cars. I was also wondering what oil filter everybody was using, i was going to order a few parts today but i wanted to get a general consensus.
S
o far my only upgrades to my stock system are:
Earl's Stainless Lines front and Rear
1" Master Cylinder

How much fluid does the stock Brake system hold? i was thinking about converting to DOT5 Motul RBF 600.

So basically my questions are:
1. What Brake pads are you using?
2. What Brake Fluid are you using?
3. What Oil Filter are you using on your race motor?

i'm using hawk HPS' in the front with drums in the rear :S.. i get bored sometimes and do hard stops from 110mph+ and they stop fine with no fading..
on my 99 civic it took about 1 bottle of motul dot 4 fluid to flush the whole system..
and i use wix filters on my race motor in my integra and it works fine!

I was also was also recommended to use the Honda S2000 filter because the elements inside are different from regular filters.

thats what I use and will remain using.

I havent touched my brakes yet since I do not have the hubs for the DSS axles installed yet.

no, they also have dot 4, i do not think dot 5 is recommended for street use..

dot 4 should be plenty for autox, daily driving and however else you drive your car..

and ask yourself this, why would you want so much oil pressure? just make sure you have an oil pressure gauge to keep an eye on things and you should be fine

at high rpms the oil pressure is already pretty high, if it were any higher you could MAYBE start blowing seals? someone correct me of i'm wrong

I had a box of mobil 1 oil filters laying around so that's what I used.

I ran stock GSR fronts, stock 92 SI rear calipers with Axxis ultimate pads and a front brembo drilled rotor just for looks lol

It's really not a big deal though.

I was using Hawks on my dd/race car.I pulled the calipers off and one pad fell out and on the ground.I picked it up and there wasn't any backing plate on it,it was still in the caliper. They only had about 6k and were hardly even worn. They went in the trash and the autopart store ones went in.I don't see any reason to use dot5 in a drag car, especially if it has had dot3 or 4 all it's life.I used the last of my old oem filters and a mobil1 went on this last time.

Try a K&N oil filter. It's made for racing with a heavy duty canister and a high flow element that also filters great. Worked perfect for us with high oil pressures and a lot of methanol in the oil.

The best part is the nut on the end. It make taking the filter off a breeze and is already drilled for saftey wire.

K&N here for the oil filter, you want whatever oil pressure you can get at 9k+ rpm.

I use the K&N I can go down to autozone and pick one up and they are always easy to take off due to the nut.

I used to have stock CX brakes with stock fluid and cheapo aftermarket pads. Used to leave myself about 1/4 mile extra braking room because the brakes would fade so bad, especially if I loaded up on the brakes a bit.

I now have EX calipers up front with OEM pads and new fluid. Don't get much fade anymore, just needed the extra surface area. Both setups have drums in the rear because I'm not JDM enough to change them out.

OEM oil filters here.

word drum brakes are no good man, lots of fade stupid design lol. rear disc is def worth it, its easy to do and by the time you need to service the drums you should just take them off and pt on rear disc, it usually only costs a few hundred dollars at most

K&N HP-1004 for the B and D (3593a)

Earl's brake lines ARE DOT approved, and so are Russell...
