i have a 98 with a ls swap and when im in neutral the idle stays fine for about 5 sec. then you hear a low popping noise from the exhaust the rpms drop a little then go right back to normal and it keeps doing this the plugs are new and i checked the timing that is also fine what else could make it do this it sounds like **** > thanks

 

well i on my car, it kinda makes a popping sound but thats when im in a high RPM. i guess its kinda like a backfire but not as loud. i think mine does it cuz i removed the resignator. but yours????
what mods do you have?

 

aem 3" short ram intake dc sports 4 to 1 header stock cat and skunk 2 cat back not much yet havent had the car for to long yet and its my dd so i cant just yank it apart like i would like to do im getting all the peices together now to do the ls-v

Is normal for it to pop. Mine pops everyday, normally when i shift gear but is not that loud. I mess around with it sometime. Normally when I cruise in 1st/2nd, rev to 5-6rpm, then let go of the gas for about 2 sec, gas again, then A LOUD POP!

 

When your driving it's normal with an exhaust setup like yours.. though, in idle I've NEVER had a car thats exhaust popped.

 

yea its really low if you were the car next to me at a red light with your windows down you wouldent hear it but i just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with it thanks giys

 

My EM1 makes a real light poppin sound at idle also, once my car is warm .. . I have Dc 4-1 Header, stock cat, and Apexi WSP2 Cat-back Exhaust. But it doesnt pop or backfire when im drivin and really get on it.
