is it worth boosting a h22??
i got a jdm h22a (220hp) and i was thinking about going boost. my goals are to run low 12s or high 11s. i am using a del sol shell. how much power do i need to make in order to run those 1/4 mile time? is it going to be reliable. i have everything for boost except the kit. is it worth boosting a h because i heard the rings go bad on them.
i have gator axles, act clutch and flywheel, 2.5 inch exhaust ec tune, fuel pump and injectors.

My recommendation is to have it sleeved and built with a tubular mani and a good sized turbo. I've tuned a built h22 in a hatch to around 430ish whp and that thing is a f'ing beast

I would say yes, boost it
Mine made 380whp & 270wtq @ 10 lbs of boost and held up just fine, gunna push it a bit harder when motor is back in and car is back together!

NA is GAY
Have had multiple 400WHP STOCK H22As here... That lasted.
The ringlands on ANY stock Honda motor are suspect, The Hs FRM sleeves while they dont play well with fogeed slugs, are SUPER STRONG (contrary to poular misinformation). The most accurate remark in this thread thus far is that it is really all in the trune... The Hs big bore is friendly with timing.
My H is nbot stock... anymore.
Built now, but that was ALL BONE STOCK....
Made 630 first time around built, now with 10K miles on the built motor going for over 700.
LMK if I can help you out.

beat the car to hell and back for about a year
then one night he got greedy and well maybe he shouldnt have put the boost controler in his car and turned it up 5lbs and bye bye compression

Alignment, alignment, alignment. And your alignment is only as good as your suspension and chassis ability to keep from deflecting under power. Del Sol is a heavy, flexible chassis - park on top of a hill where the ground isn't flat and try to put your targa top back on, it won't fit. You can still get good traction out of them and it will be EASY to hit your modest power and track ET goals, but you need to understand they aren't the ideal drag chassis.
