the idea of a sheilded wire is to "block" ign/ electronic noise from getting into the signal wires. if you get noise, you get erratic signal, then you get problems, misfire, erratic timing, ETC.

do no connect both ends of the sheild to a ground, only one end gets the ground.

also, there are a few shielded wires that just connect from one wire to another, it doesnt wrap around the outside of the wire....like my ground H that goes to the ecu, has an open silver wire that connects to the the black/red to the white wire on my o2 sensor, it shows shielded on my diagram, but it doesnt shield it, it connects to it, there are a few that way....if you look at the diagram, it shows 3 different wires shielding the wires on the dizzy, but actually only one does, and it only shields the 3 in the pic, not all six..........sorry if im confusing, i can take pics of other wires if you'd like

you o2 signal wire should be sheilded, are you sure the wire you are looking at isnt just a "jumper" to ground the shield on one end ?

i know what you are saying about the dist, it might only be shielding the high side or the low side wires.

for what its worth you can get new 6 wire w/sheild (single run, with 6 individual wires and sheild) this might be a better option for you, rather than splicing all kinds of stuff together.

contact Tony @ www.T1raceparts.com he should have everything you need (including new pins for the plugs)
