Reading CEL codes.
I was wondering if civic or hondas in general had a way of getting a code for the CEL without a reader. I am asking cause my '89 BMW 325ix has what is called a stomp test in which with the key in the on position, you step on the gas pedal 5 times and the CEL will blink a certain amount of times allowing you to get a general idea of what the problem is.
I ask because my CEL comes on and off randomly but when it comes on, it stays on. I always have a waver in the idle and its not getting good mileage as well. I was thinking its the O2 sensor, IDK, any other Ideas.
Oh, and its a 95 civic lx w/ a d16z6 swap.

Yeah, I just found that in FAQ's
So I just went and did it and I got this
1 flash.....3 sec gap......1 flash.....3 sec gap...... It just kept going and going like that too with no change. Also, on a side note, my SRS light was blinking all over the place too, don't know if that means anything.
So I am assuming that means the O2 correct.

Yes, CEL code 1 indicates that a fault was detected in the O2 sensor circuit. To ensure that there is a real problem, clear the ECU, drive the car, and wait to see whether the CEL turns ON again and whether the same code is thrown.
The blinking SRS light indicates that a fault was likewise detected in the airbag circuit. The blinks represent a code that identifies the specific faulty circuit.
