Default noob?? what will it take to get a civic hatch or 00si into the 11's??

im new to honda's as ive been into euro cars for the last 5 years and im getting drawn over to the jap cars more and more everyday, basically im going to have roughly 13k to spend all in all on a car, motor, turbo set-up, tuning etc. what set up as far as motor and turbo could i use to get a civic hatch or 00 si into the 11's or 10's even better. and how reliable are honda's with that whp level as it will prolly be my only car. im not completely new to turbo set ups as i have a 330whp jetta but i want a nasty honda because for the money ive spent on my car i could have a 9 sec civic my buddies say. any info will be helpful and sorry for the noob question just need some insight.

With 13k you could build a nasty all motor K car that would could put you into the Mid 10's ... No turbo needed!! Honestly with that amount you could do a lot.

Just search and all your questions will be answered look in the market place and the classifieds!!!

EG hatch, K20 or k24 swap, stock block w/ turbo kit gt30/35r will get you into the 10s. You can build one or buy one complete for 12-14k. Pretty much 450whp in any body hatch will get you into the 10s if you can drive on slicks.

A properly built K series motor can be very reliable depending on its use (Ie. Drag racing, DD, Road racing, whatever)

Axle wise, Companies like Drive shaft shop or Gator has a set of Axle's to fit all kinds of power ranges the decision is all on you.

Like i said before just do a lot of reading for the next couple of weeks look through all the different technical forums here on HT and gather as much info about a build that may interest you. Then start looking through the vendor marketplaces for parts prices. With the money you have to put forth you have so many routes you can go.

This will be about the best answer you will find till you make up your mind on a specific setup.

START YOUR RESEARCH NOW!!!

Kseries axles are bigger and stronger than B's at least stock. I haven't broken any yet my car is slow tho, the trannys are a bit weak tho, I would go 5psd over the 6spd. A simple built shortblock for a K w/ proper sized turbo will get you deep into 10s if not 9s. There are quite a bit of ppl that run their Ks to the max. There's been a couple 700-800whp on stock sleeves and a bunch of high 500- low 600s on completely stock blocks.

Not that you want this much power but a somewhat simple build

IPS-KT2
IPS Archetype Program Elements:
Intake manifold, Pistons,
Connecting Rods & Crankshaft
stock K20A2 cylinder head
Full-Race twinscroll
Borg Warner S372: Race cover
TiAL 44mm wastegate (x2)
T1 Race Development Intercooler
T1 Race Development breather/catchcan
VP Q16
Hondata KPro

900whp+ so if you build a block you should have no worries daily'in.

Someone just copied anothers engine setup.

Be reall guys. do you honestly think you can build a decent k motor built for boost and still have money to buy the car aswell as all the other parts needed for under 13-14k?

Yes it might be possible but I highly doubt it. to properly build a motor like the one posted probably cost around 12k.

I know i copied javier build just to show what's it capable of but you can buy that same block for from IPS or just get the destroked 2.2L crank cunningham piston/rods.

Stock k20 throw in cp, eagles you can easily throw 500whp.

I'm at 9k with my build but I went nitrous to cheap out.

It's not like you need a built block to run 10s either keep it on stock block run it at 500~ on gas and run it low 400s on street.

If you can do some work on your car I think you should be able to keep it in the budget.

You can easily find a 500whp B/H hatch built tho for 12-14k which would save the trouble.

what whp does it take in a honda to run 10's?? i kno for vw's it took a guy somewhere in the high 600whp range but those cars arent made for drag racing and there alot heavier. so ive seen alot of mid 400 low 500whp cars for sale on here, would they run low 11's high 10's? thats if i can drive the damn thing and with traction ofcourse

Built K's? Why not just do a basic stock sleeve, piston and rod set up on a B? Boner_Ben went 10.90's with a stock sleeve B16 and a T67 on 93 pump gas. The set up was simple but well tuned and executed. Stock axles too and I believe he never broke one and that car had a ton of passes and aggressive street driving. PM' Nonvtec, I'm sure he can help you put something together. If I were you, I would just buy a running car and just add my own personal touches to it and save a boat load of money.
