DSP-izing a 98 Civic "koop"
Caveat: class change proposal to llist all 6th Gen VTEC/DOHC Civic on the same line in DSP must go through
Suspension options are pretty straightforward, as are the various headers/exhausts, etc. Must remain street legal, so no individual tb fuel injection, heh heh.
My main question is this: is there an LSD for the D16Y8 (EX motor)?
B16 swap is an option (see above caveat) and I know that Quiaffe makes a helical LSD for that set-up, but it would be nice to not have to do an engine swap to get LSD. Heh.

Interesting... I never even noticed that they are listed on the same line as it is now in CSP... A DX coupe and even more so the hatchback could be quite competitive in DSP with the B16 swap if it is allowed under the update/backdate rule. Anybody know if this has been done already in CSP?
Quaife only lists the non-EX Civic 88-99 trannys on their site:

I believe the new proposal will still separate the DXen and HBs from the EXen/HXen VTEC cars. I *think* (don't have the rule book in front of me) that the non-VTEC SOHC cars will drop to FSP as "96-00 Civic NOC" entries.
We'll see.
Anyhow, yeah, I saw Quaiffe's listings...sux0rs. I'm hoping someone knows about an option that Q. doesn't list on their site

The only proposal i'm aware of is in the August issue of FastTrack and reads:
ITEM 1) Move from CSP to DSP, Honda Civic VTEC/DOHC, (96-00)
ITEM 2) Move from CSP to DSP, Honda Civic SOHC VTEC (92-95). Note: other 92-95 Civics fall under the "NOC" item in FSP...
Does this mean that only the 99+ Si moves to DSP and the POS HB stays in CSP? Dunno...

the cars have to be on the same line of text, not just in the same grouping of text, for the swap to remain legal. I'm betting a B16 swap isnt.
RJ - worked 50+ hours in the past 4 days and is too lazy to go find his rulebook

You got it right, but it happened a year ago.
All 92+ non-VTEC Civics were moved to FSP in '01. However, it didn't help out the EK's at all (i tried...). Their gearing is just too *wrong*, and the 92-95 is specifically listed on a different line so there's no update/backdate. So here's how it's gonna pan out IMO:
92-95 CX, DX: FSP (edit: did they have an LX then?)
96+ CX, DX, LX: FSP
92-95 EX, Si: DSP
96+ EX, Si: DSP
Doesn't mean you can drop a B16 into a hatch though, because that combo was never offered on U.S. shores. Can't slap a vtec head on a 96+ hatch because it's listed on a seperate line from the 92-95. That is, unless you wanna come on over to Street Mod!
Dunno whether you could put a B16 into an EX though. Probably not because of different available options...

When I was discussing with Howard the move to put the other 6G VTEC Civics back in DSP with the Si, it was with the specific intention of (again) permitting the EX/HX to update to the B16...otherwise they are stuck weighing too much with no options to get more power. It's pretty clear that this doesn't allow HBs to get the B16, or anything like that, all it does is allow you to build an Si clone (which is almost a GS-R clone!).
Back to my question: anyone make an LSD for the D16?

Quaiffe should have one. Also, OPM Motorsports (http://www.opmmotorsports.com/) can probably help.
