when im coming to a stop and i shift to first gear and let the clutch out the motor makes a whiney sound. when its reving down is when i hear the wine noise. but its only when im lettin the clutch out. it wont make the noise when im just slowing down in 1st. its never made this noise before because i would think i would have noticed. its a 98 civic dx.. note: only when i let the clutch out it makes the noise

 

check the tension on ur belts

 

it has to be something with the clutch b/c it makes the noise when you are engaging the clutch but only in first gear.

if anyone knows.....

 

I would check tranny fluid level/condition first off.
