Default so heres what it comes down to.

I either get a y8 or z6 head and put on my d16 or i develop a d16a6. i cannot decide so i figure take it to HT, they will guide me in the right direction Which one would i get the most out of without changing the pistons, rods but i will get a cam. Im just lost any guidance would be appreciated. I want more power and i dont know which one to go with, P&P D16a6 with cam, I/h/e, nitrous, or a sohc vtec. which is a better, more reliable base to start a good performance engine?

If you're doing similar mods to either then the Y8 will make more power.
