Damn Chinese Materials
I ordered some aluminum strip from Speedy Metals to modify a tire rack. I figured material was still a safe bet against the threat of Chinese Crap. Nope. What do I find on material?
ZHONGWANG ASTM...........
So I go do a little searching, Yep Chinese Garbage.

I emailed Speedy Metals to see what they have to say about it. I doubt I will get a response.

Never use that crap from overseas! There specification are no where even close to North American standard. We only use Alcoa and Keiser for our aluminum. We've heard and seen to many problems with that stuff. Never used it though... And it's for a reason
Made in China. That's whats wrong with it. The links I have found say that the material is "Zhong **** aluminum profiles are the “Testing Exempt Quality Product” and a “Top Brand of China” certified by the Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of China. The Zhong **** brand is a “Well-Known Trademark of China” accredited by the National Industrial and Commercial Administration of China."
not real confidence inspiring.

I ordered some stainless pipe from McMaster. All of their elbows have been Chinese made for a while now but their straight pipe was always made in the US. Now its all Chinese. Problem is, no one can get me these materials next day for standard shipping charges so Im stuck buying Chinese crap.
Also, Chinese aluminum is a nightmare to weld. I had ordered some pipes a long time ago from Ebay. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more and still couldnt get a clean looking puddle. Welds looked like a blind man was doing them. Never will I waste my time with that crap.

The guys at Speedy Metals responded to my email and said they get materials from all of the world. Just ask for American materials at the time of the order. That is kinda nice.
