Crome Problem..Let off throttle in High Rpms=CEL, video link
Had this issue for quite some time, lately it's been occuring more frequently, more so with colder climates.
Car: OBD1 converted 91 Civic, b18a turbo setup, professionally tuned with Crome software.
The problem occurs typically while I'm in 3rd or 4th gear on the highway in boost. If I let off the throttle at high rpms after pulling in those gears, the cel will appear. After letting off the throttle, the engine will surge from 500-1200 rpms and the cel will remain on. If I give it gas, the car will not respond. However, if I restart the car, the cel disappears and the car will function properly as if nothing has happened.
I tried jumping the diagnostic harness when the cel appears and no codes are given, the cel just remains solid.
My tuner informed me that it's a glitch in the Crome software, just wondering if any of you have experienced the same issue and if/how you fixed it.

i had a very similar thing happen, but i could check the code and it was for vtec press switch. is your j12 cut in the ecu? we never figured out what was wrong i just never let it coast down from the high rpms.
It occurs not only on the highway, but more dangerously when I let off the throttle in turns as well at high rpms, high speeds...so it's a safety concern as well
I was hoping my tuner could transfer all the info/map to ectune, but he said I would have to re-tune the car because the map couldn't be directly converted over. I'm just trying to avoid dropping $150 an hour on dyno time if possible.
looks like faulty ecu/program.
did your tuner used p30 basemap?
have u tried a different ecu?
ive tuned about a hundred cromes. none of them are like that.

I tuned many cars on crome always using the p72 code base and never had that issue. Although I had plenty of other issues and bugs that had to be worked through so I just stopped using it altogether now. Drop the money on ectune/neptune/hondata and i'm sure you wont be dissapointed.
crome is pretty crappy, I like ectune 10 times better. But I don't think that issue has something to do with crome, never seen that happen before. Maybe it's ecu.
My integra uses a socketed p72 ecu, can I put the Civic chip in that ecu and plug it in my civic (b18a non-vtec) to rule out if the ecu is the issue? Wasn't sure if I could use a socketed vtec ecu in non-vtec application...
Have you tried making a new BIN? Open Crome twice, open your current BIN in one, then create a new BIN in the other, then copy/paste the ign+fuel maps & settings. Do not import, since you want the new map as 'clean' as possible.
Sometimes its just a bad burn, or even ESD. I zapped a chip once - it ran like crap, reburned, and was fine.

i never had that problem with crome. try to disable some of the CEL like the O2, ELD, injector, baro, VTP, etc to see if that helps.
my car did the same thing! As far as i know we did was Dissable the O2 sensor and it never happened again... i remember hearing somewhere that its a sign that your O2 sensor is bad..something like if you floor it for a few secconds in high rpms and then let off for a few secconds if your CEL comes on your O2 is bad... but i dont know for sure...
I notice you have a DA as your avatar - could it be an OBD0-conversion issue (assuming yours is 90-91)? Have you tried a different conversion harness at all?
I know for a fact that many self-proclaimed soldering professionals have soldering skills of a 10-yr old, along with shrink-wrap etiquette of a 6-yr old (electrical tape-only). Countless hours have been spent by car people because their 'pro' mechanic screwed up their wiring royally.
