Default Painting fog lights

Hey, so I bought a pair of... cheapish... fog lights.

But, they light up pretty dang nice, and I did a good job installing them so I think they look relatively legit.

Any way. One lights up a bit darker than the other. It ends up looking like yellow on the left and cream on the right.

How should I adjust this? I have heard of spray painting the lens even the bulb, or even coloring the bulb with sharpie?? (ghetto..) also there are bulb "condoms" and lens covers?

Any other options, or what is the best option?

Don't say buy JDM lights, because I don't that money to drop on fogs.

Thanks!

They are not JDM at all. Far from it...

They are cheap fogs from a *cough* auto store.

I mounted them JDM "style" I guess..

Here are a couple pictures:

You cant really notice the color difference in the picture.

Is it the left one that looks more yellow? It does in the picture. Anyways, maybe just get some amber stain glass paint and tint them both? I think with amber you wouldn't be able to notice it much.

Those dont look bad at all. Are they 3"?
And are they glass? If theyre glass you can use brake cleaner to get any color OFF of them. Ive done it.

Heres mine, I painted them with stained glass paint from Micheals craft store.
The color is nice but theyre not nearly as bright as when clear. Im thinkin about takin the paint off.

Yes, the left one is more yellow.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just staining them with a little yellow, maybe even orange to even out the color.

But I have been pondering and I don't really like the yellow/orange looks on lenses. Clear just looks a bit cleaner in my opinion.

I think I am going to attempt to color the bulbs. if that doesn't work out, definitely coloring the lenses.

No, the lenses are plastic. That's mainly the reason why I don't mind messing with them. Can I still remove color from them??

and your picture wont show up ifiexplode. :/

Assuming theyre H3 bulbs, Im willing to bet coloring them would just burn off right away. You can buy yellow H3 bulbs, Ive never messed with them though.

You could try cleaning them with paint thinner maybe, Something less harsh than brake cleaner.

Yeah, I'm not sure what bulbs are. But I can find out.

I opened them up, and it ends up the bulb and lens are clear. What makes the color is a metallic piece that raps around the bulb and reflects the light.

I am wondering if I could just remove that piece and/or replace the bulbs with yellow bulbs.

but the reflective paper seems necessary....

Dude I still can't see em, not even a hyperlink.

Maybe its my computer.... try image shack hotlink for forums(1)??

There you go. Oh, those look nice. How much did they cost you? And did you paint them?

Yeah.. I really can't decide. Even a slight color difference bothers me. But I don't want to ruin them, and if its not broken don't fix it I suppose.

If I do paint them or change them, I'll post some pictures on the process and results.

Thanks for everyone's in point.

I believe it is just a film rapped around the bulb and reflects the color outward.

So I am not sure if painting the lens or bulb would clash with that.

My fog lamps arent anything special, Theyre just 4" glass from advanced auto.
I think they costed me $50. And yes i painted them with stained glass paint.

You could try painting the lenses. But after lookin at yours I kind of want mine white again lol. Did you figure out what style bulb is in there? H3? If its film wrapped around the bulb id rip that sh*t off, haha

Haha, people always want something different.

I think I will leave mine for now. And if they really start to bother me I will mess with them.

And yeah the bulbs are H3.

Yeah, that's very true.

Thanks man. If I wasn't getting legit fogs than I was at least gonna make them look decent.

Holy crap. One really small set and then the next set is the biggest I've seen on a Civic (trying to look like stock at least).

Bulb condoms will burn off the bulbs. You don't want to touch halogen bulbs, much less cover them. Try painting the lenses.

I take it you're seeing modifying your car as a fad or temporary distraction?
