Has anyone bumped up the compression on their rsx type s?? I'm getting some cams soon but also thinking about bumping up my compression to 12:1 but does it make a big difference and even worth it?

mods now are: AEM cai, buddy club RH, Greddy evo2 and kpro

if you wanted real power, you should have gone FI. there is power to be made in staying NA, but it costs a lot more per hp than it does with FI.

i believe for ever full point you go up about 7% or some odd number of percent in hp but at the same time 7% or some odd number is the amount of reliability lost, as in increase wear and tear on the motor then usual but thats obvious ...

I know FI makes POWER but i really dont wanna boost it, if it was meant for FI it would've came stock boosting lol thanks though. but i'd rather get an Evo or Sti that comes stock turbo.

i would just put different pistons in it but 12.5 cr would be the highest i would go unless you wanna use race gas. but as long as i had the block apart i would suggest replaceing your bearing and upgrading your rod bolts ect. and depending on the piston you use you might have to use a different rod as well.

Even a simple headgasket swap changes compression....

headgaskets will take your compression up only .3 to .4+ cr. by itself do you think that would be a noticeable gain?

depends on other mods. I was just throwing that out there since he thought only pistons change things. But a mugen headgasket or such type could get you a poney or two but is more built for strength and durabililty. But if your doing a full out build every h/p yo can squeeze counts.

Im going the same way with my type-s and in my search for pistons I found out that Toda makes a 13.6:1 piston and with their .3mm metal head gasket you bump up to 14.2:1...Defiantly not smart for street but sounds like a fun time!!

For my build I just got a cometic .030 head gasket and some high compression valves and I'm planning on getting 11:1 which should be reliable and a little more aggresive without costing an arm and a leg. ( 10.5:1 stock compression k24 )

11.1:1 is the stock k20z1 compression, i think you can alittle higher then that to have alittle more fun ... lol ... but its true parts do cost an arm and a leg now a days, post up how it goes when you get your k24 at 11:1 compression ...
