Post Replacing cat with Cherry Bomb or other glasspack\muffler

ok recently I had a rattle in my exhaust system and when I took it apart I found out the cat was breaking apart. for a temporary fix I just gutted it the rest of the way but now it's got a new sound like open headers in a tin can then to the rest of the exhaust system. so I was pondering what to do then it came to my mind to put a Cherry Bomb or something on it. I don't have enough cash to buy a new cat but I hate it when my car sounds like A**.
what do you think it would sound like, I do have a flow through "fart can" for a muffler.

I forgot to mention the car's a '95 Accord EX VTEC

You still won't get away from the "Fart in a tin can" effect.

Thats just the sound effects that come from a "fart-can" muffler. I hate honda's that have them... a good exhaust is a must. I've found the Dynomax Super-Turbo mufflers to sound wonderful on Honda's and I use them on both my cars. The dynomax mufflers have an internal "S" shape design that helps to cancel out high pitched frequencies associated with small 4 cyl engines. Best yet the mufflers cost about $40 each at most local parts stores.

I get more compliments from my exhaust on my car than anything else. You know the same 'ol things like: That sounds good- I didnt know your car had a V6, or damn thats nice... lol you know the usual. Forget the cherrybombs in place of the cat's (although also very good mufflers on their own)- just get rid of the angry bees stuck in that tin can of yours and get a real muffler.

And yes a cherry bomb in place of a catalytic converter would be an ok "fix" as far as sound and the rattling is concerned. Just dont get pulled over or go for emissions testing (if applicable where you live). And since your '95 accord is an OBD1 computer / single 02 sensor design, getting rid of the cat wont throw a code or cause any adverse engine performance.- Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I don't think you guys understand what I'm saying, I never had that high pitched "rice" sound before I had the hollow cat and it isn't actually coming from the muffler it is coming from the cat area. like I said I will post a vid when I can I just haven't had time.

Use an ebay 'race cat'. They are bolt in, and they are just resonators. The one I have is a drilled core glass-pack.

well I have a welder so I am just gonna weld the stock flanges on the cherry bomb and call it good. there is no emmissions testing in WA so I'm good there, and I have a hard time seeing a cop pulling me over and saying "your car sounds like your running without a catalytic converter, let me check."

Just slam the car so he cant stick his head underneath, what they cant see you cant get in trouble for!

well the cops are ignorant up here anyways.I was doing 70mph in a 35 zone and a cop passed me going the other way and didn't do anything. I've had lots of instances like that. hell I was even racing some trans am from stoplight to stoplight right in front of the police station. no one in my family has ever gotten pulled over around here, all their tickets are from road trips.

ok, so I got the cherry bomb, I went all out and got the 30 inch long and 2-1\2 inch pipe glass pack with the louvered core. its kinda interesting that last time I got this one in the 2 inch diameter it didn't have the louvered core. it is ridiculous that the price went up from 25$ with tax to $41 with tax. but Holy S*** I put it over the straight pipe on my go kart and it made it sound like a street bike. so far I don't see how people don't like these.

I got I price match with gunners and so I only ended up paying $26
