Default Magnaflow Muffler

Anyone got any experience with using a 4-1 header, testpipe onto a 20"magnaflow round muffler part#14416 right after so that it dumps under the car? Will this setup be less louder compared to running open header and still yield the good power that running open header offers?

I ran a Spoon header on my GSR with a straight 2.5" pipe back into an Apexi N1 muffler.
No cat, No testpipe, No resonators... holy **** was it fast, and holy crap was it LOUD.
Having the muffler ON did remove most of the pedestrian-terrorizing-noise and car-rattling-apart-vibration of an open header setup, but it was still about as loud, it just didnt shake my feet off the floor like an open header would at WOT.
So, if this is for a daily driver... it might drive you insane.

the setup you suggest is what a few locals run on their autox-only crx's and it is one hella loud setup. imagine an ITR being even louder.. like cops will not be happy with you at all...

i've been thinking of doing one of those tiny magnaflo's in a custom axleback for auto-x, etc. like the 1 chamber straight through versions, but i dont think i would get anywhere near public roads with it

Sorry I wasnt clear but this would be a race setup only. Not daily driving but I'll give it a try around the neighborhood and see how loud it really gets. If its anywhere near or like the louder aftermarket exhaust like an Apex n1 I should be ok with it.

okay, then it is the way to go. Any straight thru muffler... like dynomax, ES oval, Apexi N1 or even a Supertrap (might be better because it is tunable ) will be a great in a race-only setup... and YES it will be hella loud if it ends UNDER the car, before the rear lca's. That is why I ended up running mine to the end of the car... I couldnt hear my track instructors if I hadnt !

Magnaflow sounds different than any of the othersmentioned here. In case nobody noticed, magnaflows generate a lower and deeper tone than dynomax or es or apex. They have better packing material. A 20" (if it will fit) will be loud on the inside of the car, but you will find that it is not as loud as you might expect outside tha car.

Got everything installed and noise inside car is unbearably loud. At idle it just rumbles very deep and nicely sounding. VTEC ownz me tho. great power up top. Have the feel of launching with slicks when vtec engages. I think i might move the 20" muffler #14416 to back and put in a 28" resonator #10436, then have local exhaust shop make 2.5" mandrel pipe all the way back to muffler. Hopefully this will deaden the sound somewhat.

hell yeah, it sounds sweet, huh?... i can only imagine VTEC... I know it helped my top end TREMENDOUSLY! (the B18B tends to die off at the top end)
yeah if you added a resonator it'll definitely help. Just make sure its a straight through and perforated. i would just get another magnaflow, myself. I had a resonator on my car before and then replaced it with magnaflow and when I went to race, I was totally shocked at how my car performed.
