Quick Q about the Apexi IHI kit

Quick Q about the Apexi IHI kit
This question is really for someone who has the Apexi SOHC turbo kit w/GT intercooler.
Question is: Do I have to cut out the plastic crossmember structure that fills the front air dam on my car? (93 Civic)
Also, are the fins on intercoolers as delicate as the fins on most radiators? I wonder because it would seem tough to see rocks tear up a $400-$800 piece of equipment......and I think Grillcraft type things look like ****

Yes they are delicate and you <U>will</U> cry sometimes when thinking back about how nice it used to look and how mashed up it is now.
About the cutting, I don't know. Probably not much cutting required.
