swap question (5th gen civic)
Hey guys, i'm pretty much finished with my swap, it's a B18A1 with a B1 harness/intake manifold/distributer. I'm having two problems. First i'm using a 94+ integra header, but the flange at the end of the downpipe for the header does not mount up to my (92-95) civic cat. Do I need to get a integra cat as well? Will it bolt up to the exhaust flange? The second problem is i'm getting a engine code 41. It's to do with the oxygen sensor. I'm not to sure if it could be from running open header w/o a exhaust on it or not. I used the voltmeter and did the check on the o2 sensor and it seems fine. The only thing i can think of is it's from running the engine with no exhaust (backpressure) and also i had a old 90-93 integra header with the o2 sensor on the front of the header rather then under neath on the downpipe. If anyone has any insite on my problems i'd really appreciate it. Thanks.. I did try searching but didn't come up with anything.
To answer your question about the cat:
You can get an integra cat and it i will bolt up, but then the back side of the cat won't line up with the exhaust. Something is going to have to be cut and rewelded. I had a new exhaust so I decided to cut the front of the cat (flange w/ 2 bolt holes) with a hack saw. This was done right behind the flange. Then I just bolted it to my exhaust, lined up the front with the header and scribed a line on the flange. Then just had it welded at the new angle. I hope this helps. Unfortunately, something is going to have to be cut and welded.
Sorry, I don't have any personal experience with your O2 sensor prob. I did a '96 B18B in a '94 cx and used the 4 wire O2 sensor at the end of the header. If you are using a P74 or P75 ecu you might want to try a 4 wire O2 sensor at the end of the header. This I'm not too sure about. Good Luck

like what g_man 80 said you have to go to a muffler shop and get the exhaust extended. i also would look into geting an integra cat. about the o2 sensor, is it hooked up as far as wiring and engine wise? it doesnt really matter to my knowledge where the o2 is set up just make sure its hooked up to the harness and you shouldnt throw a light.
To answer your question (exhaust):
There is a way of doing it without reweld, but it depends if you have the part laying around or can buy it for cheap (if money concerns).
Use a Civic B16A header. Stock, aftermarket, whatever. The primary is longer and it will bolt up to your Civic cat directly like stock. And everything after the cat is standard business.
O2 sensor.
Double check your wiring using the multimeter. Make sure the O2 signal actually goes to the ECU. When I test-started my civic, with just the B16a header (already has a O2 bong) and open exhaust -- even without a cat -- no code. BTW, I am using OBD1 P72.

thanks for the replys i got the exhaust working, i used a 90-93 integra cat and just pulled the exhaust up to the header and it ended up working. After i got that all fixed we put the rims on it and dropped it on the ground, i was going to test drive it, but when i tried putting it in gear that tranny would grind and act like the clutch wasn't engaging. I even pulled on the clutch arm manualy to make sure it was pulling it up all the way. It was but it still doesn't work at all. Tommorow i'm probably gonna drop the tranny from the engine and check everything out.
