My 97 accord wont start.after headgasjket replaced.just great!
Ok i made the mistake of taking my car to the mechanic, and he did a headgasket change as well as other things.total 585.all gaskets changed, iacv was bad,tb,was bad, thermostat was bad,and replace fluids total 585$<+===my car dont turn on now.he replaced the main relay 6 months ago.and my car was turning on.now the engine turns and doesnt turn on it acts like its going to but doesnt. What the hell could be wrong???
no need to bump your post so fast/often, that generally seem to result in less help.
maybe when reassembling the engine... the mechanic didn't get the timing right when putting the timing belt back on. Or maybe messed up the spark plug wire order.
are you getting a spark?
are you getting fuel into the engine?

Did he disturb the distributor when he pulled the head, or did he leave it attached?
Does it show any inclination to fire at all, or is it DOA?
I assume it will crank, but not start; right?
Trying to determine where this may have gone horribly wrong is going to be tough, since he touched so many things.....and I'm not sitting there doing tests. But, it's not insurmountable.
I would start by verifying Camshaft Timing and the Distributor Rotor pointing in the correct direction. Next, I would confirm that there were no ground straps left disconnected.

Hey p.thanks for your input,it is greatly appreciated.it is cranking but not turning on eVen though it did for a weEk.....i know just a TEENY bit about these hondas but i think that maybe he got the torque specs wrong or didnt loosen the head in the correct order.?who knows...oine thing i do know it still had a minor misfire.the reason i took it in was because it had a misfire on cylinder 2 and 3 ...let me know p.

You need three things for an engine to run:
Compression
Fuel
Ignition
First one is easy
Second one: When it's dead quiet turn the ignition key to the run position. You should hear the fuel pump cycle.
Third one: Select an ignition cable, stick a spare spark plug in the business end and lay it against the valve cover. Have someone crank it over. You should see a quite obvious blue/white spark jumping the gap.
Let me know what you find

yea i want to bring it back to him. but just like many mechanics.."WE FIXED THIS BUT ON YOUR WAY OUT THIS BROKE THAT'LL BE AN EXTRA 375$ PLUS LABOR,CASH OR CREDIT?

i wonder if something as simple as a ground cable didn't come loose... such as the one attached on the IM ("-" for injectors).
If you get a chance, remove one spark plug and put a small ball of paper in there, don't push it all the way in.. it'll be just for a test. Then, try starting the car... if that little ball of paper gets thrown out of the spark plug cylinder, at least you know that there's compression... (that's IF you don't have a compression gauge)

but as P stated you are going to have to start with the basics here and go from there.
its all about Icsolating the problem.
compression, fuel, spark = combustion
