Default F22B1 VTEC Head on F22B2 Questions

What would I have to do to put a head from an F22B1 (95 Accord EX) onto an F22B2 shortblock? I don't even know where to look for this information. What differences are there in these blocks? Is it a direct swap? Is it more like the LSVTEC process? What would I have to do?

Well...in reading the F22B1 VTEC Headswap thread that's linked in the FAQ, it seems that it's a pretty much straight swap.

I guess my question is more whether I can use an F22B2 SHORTBLOCK to fix the knocking bottom end I have in my current Accord EX. And if so....are there any special things I need to do to make this work other than just swapping the heads out. My car is already a VTEC Car, so there's nothing I need to do w/ ECU, etc.

im kinda confused. you say you have an Accord Ex which should have the F22B1. so why do you have a F22B2. if your doing the headswap for performance, dont even bother.

I'm thinking that he has a bottom end knock that he would like to get rid of in his current F22B1. He wants to swap out the bad B1 block for an F22B2 is what I'm getting out of this thread now.....

If you can find a good solid F22B2 block, that isn't knocking, for the same year Accord that you have now, it's a clean swap.....aka plug-n-play. you will not need any conversion kits or gimmicks it's a strait bolt on, the blocks are exactly the same.

yeah....you can...butttttttttttt you may need the vtec conversion kit....im not exactly sure, i know the f-series motors like i know math...(the basics) or you can build your f22 block with an h22 head and it would be sick *******

you dont need a conversion kit. and a H22 headswap is alot less straightforward then a F22 vtec headswap.

That's correct.

I have a couple different options, now. A friend of mine has a 98 F23 VTEC longblock he'd sell me. However, IDK what all I'd have to do to make that work in this car.

Anyone know?

F23's are becoming quite popular for modding. I am not familiar with them and/or any of there characteristics when it comes to swapping them into the 5th gen Accords. Have a look around for G23 or F23 threads and you may be able to find out more info on the swap from there.

well he'll probaly have to convert to OBD-II. i heard the swap isnt as easy as you would think. i know of a few CL owners who swapped out blown F22 for F23's. i can ask.

please re-read the thread...

they do not have a F22Ax engine, they have a F22B1 with bottom end knock and were asking if they could swap out the F22B1 block for a F22B2 block.

No.

You need to re-re-read the thread.

You say this in almost every damn Accord thread.

This guy is just a pissed off troll. IIRC he got flamed pretty good or no one would help him a while back so now he gets off by posting absolute nonsense in peoples threads.

Don't be ridiculous, all I wanted to know was the price of a center cap.

straight forward swap! If I remember right the F22B2 has an oil restrictor in the block above the oil pressure sending unit. But the F22b1 does not, its built into the cylinder head. Make sure you remove it! Other than that its the same block.
