Neither of those would give the "smoothest ride possible" that the OP asked for. Although GC + Koni Sport is an awesome setup.

Don't get sportlines if you want smooth. I have them and they are pretty stiff.

I really enjoyed the Neuspeeds, and oe shocks. Nice smooth ride, good drop, and just enough stiffness for some spirited driving. This was on my buddies eg hatch, so you can imagine if it made it only a little lively with so little weight. I imagine it would be close to a stock ride on yours.

I have H&R sports and Koni yellows on my 91 civic hatch they might lower the car more than you want, mine is dropped about 2'', but with the shocks on soft it rides like butta but just a couple twists of a **** and you can firm it up to go corner carving

I have the shocks and springs off of a 98 spec' JDM type r. The drop is perfect enough for my daily driving and the stiffness is perfect. Totally streetable and good on turns with the rear sway bar as well. Just my 2 cents though...

How about neither? Seriously, stock springs and Konis on the lower circlip for a mild lowering while still maintaining as much of the factory ride quality as possible. Any lowering spring will have a higher rate than the stock springs, reducing "ride quality".

Second that

I've had mine on for about a week now and love the way it rides. It is a little stiff but that something I can live with.

Seeing that you want a moderate drop, most spring (above 2inches) and shock combos will give you a semi smooth ride.
