Honda Civic LX Engine and Transmission Swap
I want to put a D15Z1 and VX/CX transmission into a Civic LX sedan that has all the amenities I desire (in another thread). One problem people like to point out is that the vehicle would feel like it's "too tall", that acceleration may either be undesireable at best and at worse make the vehicle not functional. Part of my desire for this setup is to have a very practical vehicle, one that gets good mileage but at the same time can carry 4-5 people or simply carry stuff that any ordinary sedan could carry.
On one hand I feel that the concerns of it being "too tall" are overblown as even 300lbs over the VX/CX shouldn't be enough to make it undesireable to drive since you too can add that much weight to those models and not have it be an issue. But, at the same time, I acknowledge that I'd want it capable of holding 4 people and 4 people + 300lbs I'd imagine WOULD be an issue ESPECIALLY where I live (hills). Now the question I have is, what part would be too tall? Like are all the gears "too tall" or is it a specific gear like 3rd gear?
I want to know if putting a VX final drive into an EX transmission would be enough to counteract the problem of a "too tall transmission" or not. While an HX transmission seems like it'd be suitable, I don't like the fact that highway RPM is 2057rpm@55mph and that's at a wheel size of 596mm, not 583 like the LX has by default.
LX tire+wheel with HX tranny, it's 2103rpm @ 55mph.
LX in default configuration, it's 2292rpm @ 55mph.
