Bought an '06 RL and the moonroof worked fine but now a few days later and it wouldn't close properly. Took the roof out today. The tilt and back functions work fine but the driver side "slider" is an inch or so behind/late the pass side when opening the roof. Without the glass in place it goes back fine but since the driver's side is 'behind' the other, with the glass in it interferes and won't retract. I can slide the slider mechanism on the driver side to catch up to the pass side's position but it lags each time I go through the cycle. Since both sides tilt and retract I don't think a cable is broken.

If anyone has a service manual and can look at this and tell me (in your own words) if any adjustment is possible I would appreciate it. Otherwise I guess it's a dealer job .

There is no adjustment that I'm aware of. It just uses a cable system. If it's that far off it's probably broken.

 

Received my service manual - looks like this is likely a limit switch adjustment since the cable is not broken and the motor works fine. Either way it's a headliner removal (thus remove virtually all interior moldings in that area). They're meant to last 'forever' so they don't make it easy. Begin the fun!

 

Good luck but the limit switches just tell the control unit when the sunroof is the whole way back, closed and popped up.

 

Doesn't sound like fun. Any chance this may be under warranty?
