this might sound dumb but i was curious....
how does the factory alarm system work, like how do you trigger it?
i have a factory alarm on my em1 so just curious how it works....

 

Not sure what you are asking axactly but if you want to trigger your alarm just make a fist and firmly (not too hard) strike the far bottom right part of your windshield (looking at the front of the car)...This sends the most force through to the impact sensors.

 

This system plugs into your car's ECU.

So since your ECU monitors all of your electronics... such as windows, doors, etc. The alarm will be triggered if the doors are opened, hatch or hood is opened, even will sense if your windows are shattered. And lastly this unit will monitor the door handles & locks... as well as the ignition.

Another plus is the alarm will demobilize your vehicle, by shutting off the fuel system.
