I have spent a while searching. (some one will prolly find the post I could not) Ok So my homie has a 94 EX w/ a JDM DOHC ZC. He has a OBD0 Dizzy froma 88-91 teg, and he cant wire it up. P06 ECU. Can he even run a OBD0 dizzy on a OBD1 ECU? If so can he just swap plugs to make it work? He said "one plug has 5 wires and the other has 7, so what do I do?"
My knowledge is only good back OBD1 lol. any help would be great he has to get to work tomorow.
*He was "SURE" there is not another dizzy that fits his DOHC ZC. I am skeptical, is there an OBD1 dizzy that fits. Would make life alot easier

 

So far as I know you can't use an OBD) distributor with an OBD1 ECU (OBD1 and OBD2 ECUs can however be used interchangeably with OBD1 and OBD2 ECUs) There is an OBD1 DOHC ZC distributor btw, I even have one for sale as a matter of fact, I had planned on trying to sell it locally, but if you want to PM maybe we can work something out. The other thing you can do is use a D15B7/D15B8 distributor and a B18A1 cam cap, this will let you to get one bolt in to hold the distributor on, you wont have any timing adjustment, but it will run ok (i've done it before)

If he uses a b18A1 cap can he use a OBD1 b18A1 dizzy? Or will it not work? cause i have both of these parts in my garage collecting dust.

 

BTW: the Dizzy that came on his car did not line up AT ALL. the bolt missed the dizzy housing completely and a LARGE washer was used to hold the dizzy
He got a dizzy from an 88-91 integra that lines up perfect..... that is an A1 block right?

you cant use obd0 dizzy with a obd1/2 ecu

for the cap it should fit

 

I never tried a B18A1 distributor, your can try it though, remember only the '92 - '93 B18A1 distributors are OBD1

D16A1, its more or less an early style ZC.

 

Im sure he can use a obd1 off a regular Single Cam. Zc's are basicly single cams with dohc heads from what i know haha

 

ZC distributors are weird, the OBD0 versions use a seperate cylinder position sensor run off the exhaust cam. The OBD1 versions utilize an oddball ZC only distributor. The bolt pattern is completely different from anything else. The CYP/CKP/TDC sensors, igniter and coil are all identical to any OBD1 D or B-series distributor. The shaft bearing assembly is different however, at a glance they look the same, and you can swap one for the other, the timing will however be off and the engine wont start.
