Default Video: My '94 Civic DX "KOOP" on the strip.

Hey guys... a bit off topic. But I came across a video of my 1994 Civic DX Coupe on my hard drive so I decided to host it for the hell of it.

The motor was a MILD LS/VTEC... using a brand new ITR head from Acura, along with new ITR pistons in the LS block. This setup yielded 189whp 134tq with full exhaust (this video) and about 194whp with a race header. Stock valvetrain, cams, intake manifold, injectors, ECU, t/b.. you name it. Low budget buildup.

This run was a 12.82@106mph I believe. Listen for the 22x8 inch M&H's on Kaiser drag wheels screech 3rd gear. (Thanks for the rims Trung!)

Haha, yeah they kept dropping for some reason. My fastest pass in that car actually was the last pass I made before selling it... all in 105 degree heat... yeeehaw.

Yes. Use as many NEW parts in the engine as possible. It eliminates room for leakage and error. I used all new main bearings, rod bearings, ARP rod bolts, ITR pistons, new ITR rings, and a VTEC oil pump. Tuning comes into play as well, although my baseline with everything set to zero made 182whp. Use tight clearences, and keep it simple, stupid. I used no little VAFC's and other electronics... just a Kenji-chipped P28 and the car flew.

Great times 2400. Good, I was beginning to think I suck at driving. I had 196whp and the best I could do was 13.4's @ 101 with 15" slicks. My car weighs 2570 with me in it.

The 60 foot is everything as far as ET goes. I was doing 1.8X 60-foots.

As far as mph... you should maybe be 1-2 mph higher with that weight and horsepower... but you're very close nontheless... Whats your setup in what car?

Haha, I remember that video... and am STILL looking for someone who still has it saved somewhere. And yes, it's the same Coupe. If you might know anyone who has it, let me know...

It really depends were you are street race. It's much stupider to race on main roads or in traffic. If you on a back road were the only other people/cars are other racers then your racing at your own risk not putting innocent bystanders at jeopardy. If you r willing to deal with the judicial system then go for it.

Those runs were actually filmed at Gainesville Raceway... but I'm sure you saw me out at Desoto as well.

Thanks for the compliments on the driving... alllllllllot of practice gets you consistent man. I used to take my stock 1997 Civic EX to the strip twice a week and just practice practice practice... the skills you develop even in a slow car payoff when you finally do have something quick.

My next quest is to achive 10's in a daily driver... we'll see how that goes

Willis and Louis,

Did you guys ever run each other? '92 white VX vs. OCD's '94 Coupe? That would have been interesting.

-kenji

/edit - changed '93 to '94 for model year of OCD's coupe /

Cars were pretty much identical... depending on who had what wheels on and how much weight in the car and whoever jumped first. It was amazing how side by side they always were... even sounded the exact same as VTEC would engage side by side... (probably because the setups were just about identical... right down to the intake). I think Darin got a 13.4@101 out of it on radials.
