Steering rack crossmember differences.
Just wondering, what are the exact differences between the non-PS and the 90-91 PS racks? Also, are the 90-93 Integra ones beefier? And would the 90-93 ones work(I'm using a D-series btw). Reason I'm asking is this is my second 88-91 Civic that has a bent rear crossmember.
how does one bend a rear cross member??? i think you can add the power steering ef rack, but then you gotta add the pump etc..your better off using the non power rack for your car. the da ones im sure wont work and the rear trans bracket would be in the wrong spot.
It's just the part that holds the LCA that bends. Doesn't really affect alignment too much; but it's noticeable(the wheel looks like it's pushed back or forward in relation to the wheel well).
I'm already sticking to a non-PS rack; if the Intera PS racks are beefier, I'll just loop the lines.

im pretty sure the da ones wont work, for one the rear trans moun wont line up...and you can run a power rack without the power, have you ever tried to turn the wheel on a power steering car without the accesory belt on.... im sure it will turn but with great difficulty...
Yeah, it's hard because the pump is still hooked up(you're working against the pump too). With looped lines, it's about the same as non-PS.
I've heard of people using DA crossmembers so I'm waiting for someone who have tried it. Do you know for a fact that the rear mount doesn't line up?

no i dont but if the cross member indeed bolted up and the rear mount from the b series mounted up wouldnt you think people would be using it for the b swaps....just trying to help here but try it for yourself...
Not really, because you'd have to source a DA Integra to begin with.
Plus, you'd have to deal with the steering/alignment.
I want to try it for myself but I'm not going to waste time and money if somebody already knows about it. The only relevant thread I can find has people speculating but not actually trying(he has both crossmembers and only visible difference was the Integra unit has the holes for that bar that goes under the engine). Although, he never said anything about thickness, etc.

Thanks man! Looks like I have to go find a 88-91 one.
You think that crack came from excessive force from that torque mount? Looks like it was cut; and the cracks just stemmed from there.
