Default Gauging Interest in $5,000 All Motor Shootout

I want to start by saying this is still just an IDEA. . .

With all the talks of shootouts, I want to see if any Street All Motor cars would be interested in racing for $5000. . .

We would pretty much copy the Payouts for the Turbo shootout ( thanks ballard!) but just cut everything in half.
Buy in would be $500. . . Winner taking home $5000.
We could split the payments for the Buy in . $250 due in 2-3 months and the last $250 due a month or so before the race.
Keep in mind if we were to have more than 16 entries then the Payout will go up.
If it happen to get more than 16 people, I'm sure we can do it like the turbo shootout and give half of the entrance fee back to those who dont make the 16 car field.

I have started talking to Roger about POSSIBLY having this along side the Turbo shootout at Etown , Oct. 3-4th. Thats still 9 months away to get ready.
Again this is still just an IDEA as we arent even sure that Javier/Etown would allow it. I just want to see if anyone would seriously want to come to this before I start doing all the Leg work. .

AFTER SPEAKING TO RACE ORGANIZERS , THESE WILL BE THE RULES:

ALL MOTOR FWD APPLICATIONS.
NO METH/ALCHOHOL (FUEL CHECKS WILL BE DONE)
ANY RACE GASOLINE IS ALLOWED/E85 IS ALLOWED

NO EXTERNAL OIL/VACCUUM PUMPS
LEXAN IS ALLOWED- BUT YOU MUST MEET WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS
25 INCH TIRE LIMIT
NO ONE PIECE FRONT ENDS ALLOWED
NO WHEELIE BARS
NO FRONT/BACKHALVING

WEIGHT LIMITS:

Honda:
2150 - K SERIES / F SERIES (F20c, F22c)
2000- H SERIES
1900- B SERIES

Vw:
2200 - VR6
2000- 2.0

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION MUST BE FROM SAME MANUFACTURER.
SEQUENTIAL TRANSMISSIONS NOT ALLOWED
H2B, F2D, F2K SWAPS ARE ALLOWED

OK Guys, after speaking with the organizers who have spoken with the track officials, the track is requiring we implement a few more rules.

-MUFFLERS ARE REQUIRED. YOU DO NOT NEED A FULL EXHAUST, YOU CAN ATTACH A MUFFLER TO THE END OF YOUR HEADER, BUT IF IT DOESNT MEET THE TRACK'S NOISE REQUIREMENTS, IT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
WE DID THIS LAST YEAR AND HAD NO PROBLEMS, JUST AN FYI

- CATCH PANS ARE MANDATORY. THIS WILL NEED TO BE BELOW THE MOTOR AND TRANS.
DON'T GET ALL BENT OUT OF SHAPE ON THIS ONE. IT ISNT REALLY THAT HARD. I MADE ONE OUT OF A STOP SIGN AND POP RIVETS. WE ALL WILL BE PUSHING OUR SETUPS AND THIS WILL REDUCE DOWNTIME IF SOMETHING HAPPENS.

-DOORS MUST BE ABLE TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE AND OUT. THIS IS GOING TO ELIMINATE FIBERGLASS RACE DOORS THAT DO NOT HAVE A HANDLE.
GUTTED DOORS THAT HAVE LEXAN WILL STILL BE OK AS LONG AS HANDLE IS PRESENT.

- LEXAN IS ONLY ALLOWED FROM BEHIND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD (IE: WINDSHIELD NOT ALLOWED TO BE LEXAN.)

These are the mandated by the track. If we do not follow these rules, we do not have a race. Please let me know if anyone would like to be taken off the list because of rule changes.

NO TOW VEHICLES ALLOWED. VEHICLE MUST OPERATE UNDER OWN POWER INTO LANES AND BURNOUT BOX.

MUST CONFORM TO ALL NHRA SAFETY REGULATIONS IE: CAGE, SCATTERSHIELD, HARNESS, JACKET
TRACK SAFETY RULES MUST ALSO BE FOLLOWED

RIGHT NOW THESE ARE THE RULES. THEY MAY BE CHANGED BEFORE RACE. IF ANYONE HAS AN OBJECTION OR WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS A CHANGE PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL PASS IT UP.

Just so everyone knows, I wouldnt be doing this for any kind of personal profit. I won't even be driving my car, My brother will, just so I can help out with everything going on. I figure with all the trash talk between coasts and teams in this class , it might be fun to see who would come out. I realize its a far drive for the west coast guys, but i know it will be worth it.

If you are serious and would like a chance to bring your all motor street car out to have some fun, run with the best of the best and go for 5k please post up.

Thanks ,
Jake

This would be cool to see...Would you have different weights for an H or SOHC powered vehicle?

Why if you make weight, who cares what windows you have!!!!!! Plus it will give alot more guys a chance to race, its alot easier to add weight than to switch out windows!!!!

Well the reason I think we should allow it is because a lot of fast all motor cars dont race competitively because they have the rear windows in lexan. In reality, it wouldnt matter what their windows were made of if they still had to meet a weight requirement.

Haha You know I would have my hands full for this race with other more important things. Don't worry though, I'll make sure my brother doesn't tree you too bad . .

Good catch, I was thinking 2100 for K/ F dual cam and 2000 for everything else

im fine w/ lexan, fuel cells, straight axle rear. like everyone said, it doesnt matter how light the car is BEFORE you make weight.

however i do feel the b and h series motors will need more than a 100lb weight advantage over the ks to make it more fair to everyone. i mean w/ the power advantage they have, you may as well just hand them your $500 and save the tolls and entry fee

what did the ks weigh at world cup? they were running 10.8s and im sure they will be quicker this season

id be fine w/ that, except i dont know any of our cars that weigh 1950 haha

2200 would definately be better than 2100. most cars in our class wont ever see below 2100, so thats not much of a weight penalty lol

i weighed right at 2100 at the end of last season. now i will have a rollbar but i will be losing the heavy factory seat. so im guessing i will still be around 2100.

and some of you guys have seen my car at atco honda day, so you know not too many guys running h series motors will get lighter than 2100 w/ the usuall street class rules.

oh well, its all good

hey how about no weight penalties and everything except ks are allowed to spray

then we could really give the crowd a show

except then it wouldnt have to be called the allmotor and then some shootout

LIke I said the rules would still be a negotiation.

The rules as they sit, for example , would allow you to buy a set of doors and put lexan in them to get you down to 2000 if you chose too haha

The main reason for those weights is that In the NJ/NY area there are ALOT of fast all motor street cars, but have lexan in the rear windows. By allowing the lexan you are opening the race up to these cars, where usually they would be shunned. They would still have to meet a weight limit though.

The only thing I would say against going to 2200, is that a lot of these same cars weigh sub 2000 as they sit. They would have to add a lot of weight to make 2200. Thats when we would see toolboxes and other things thrown inside the cab just to make weight, which would then be dangerous.

But hey, this all can be discussed in due time. Right now I just want to see who would actually stop sitting behind their computers talking trash and show up . . .

i wish etown, atco, and mir would allow straight axle rears in their local allmotor events. i have been considering doing this at some point this season or over next winter.

with the way things are going nowadays, the class's need to stay as "open" as possible to allow alot of different setups. weight penalties could always be applied for such modifications. i just want to be able to build my car to run as quick as it will go. i wont mind adding weight to at run events.

hey Jake, im fine w/ the weights you listed. I would like to get a set of fiberglass doors anyway to go quicker. besides damned if i want to be the whiney little crybaby whos afraid of the big bad k series lol
