Is there a way to tell the JDM ITR apart from the USDM ITR while just looking at them? I'm going to look at a 2000 ls That the owner says has the JDM ITR motor. Thanks.

JDM= B18c

USDM= b18c5

JDM ITR is stamed b18c on block were the US ITR is b18c5 and the head has PR3 stamed on both. this is one way so good luck.

 

Is this correct. The usdm itr tranny is the s80 and the jdm one is j4d or n3e.

 

i belive 4jhd = 4.4 final drive offered as original equipment, while ne3 = 4.78 final drive original equipment. check for the trany brace as well.

 

b18c could be a jdm gsr too, so be careful.

but if it's a stock GSR, it'll have the black valve cover and the ugly intake manifold

but those two can be easily swapped out by the previous owner for a blox/skunk2 style intake manifold

check the transmission for LSD also

edit: if it's a stock 98spec jdm itr b18c, it'll have the jdm 4-1 header also

here's a pic of my 98spec jdm itr b18c, but i swapped out the header for a rage race header

 

Also if he doesn't have papers on the engine then I wouldn't buy it.

 

Some differences off the op of my head:

- Red valve cover has the "H" symbol on it, usdm doesn't
- engine will have a PR3 head, and block will be stamped B18C only
- jdm engine has higher compression at 11:1, usdm is 10.6:1
- tranny has 4.7 final drive
- header is a tubular design with 2.5" collector
