Default k-pro OR fpr

i have been thinking about tuning options for my car and hondata or a fuel pressure regulator have been my options. i only have test pipe 2.5 inch exhaust and j's header. i can get a aem fpr for 100 bucks vs the 1400 for hondata. besides making the air fuel mixture correct how else would hondata give me more power vs just a fpr.

has anyone tuned their car with a fpr or rather what gains have been made with just correcting the air fuel and not messing with timing, lowering vtec etc.

tuning w/ a FPR and tuning with a Hondata don't even compare. You aren't even thinking in the same ball park.

What do you want to get out of your car? Are you staying N/A; or thinking about boosting?

K-Pro is just a big waste of money and 1000s of people buy it because they would rather spend 1400 vs 100 dollars.

i know theyre nowhere near the same ball park. and i know i cant tune timing with a fpr. my question is reallly where does the most of the tuned horsepwoer come from. timing. a/r fuel.
i had 207 stock and would like to see 230 with header exhaust test pipe and intake. i heard that these cause it to run lean. so i was gonna use the fpr as a simple way to correct the lean mixture. would just correcting the mixture net me the same gains or near as hondata. doesnt hondata or aem usually give out around 12 just from the tune.

lol WTF are you talking about.. do you know how anything on a honda works? if hondas were truly designed to run lean do you think they would last as long as they do? ALL tunes from the factory run RICH if anything, to prevent knocking and pinging

AEM EMS is cheaper and easier to find used. Do that if you dont want to spend a lot of money.

K- pro

when it comes to your ecu it ensures that all the parts you put in or on your motor works in harmony.

if they're nowhere near the same ballpark, then do you think they'll net about the same gains???

Correcting the A/F ratio won't really add much power, it's the timing change that gives you more power...

And for most people peak numbers aren't as important as the amount of area that's under the HP / TQ curves, and ems or kpro will give you A LOT more area under the curves

Just get Greddy EMU. Your build does not require a full standalone. KPRO is going to cost you over $2000 when it's all said and done with all of the sensors, etc. You're not going to be adjusting your timing that much anyway.

And if you are correcting your A/F ratio with an FPR you're just going to make it richer anyway, which is actually going to lose you power.

I don't think you need a standalone! A FPR may give you some power if you have lean spots... But if you bump up the fuel pressure it effects it across the board. You would then have rich spots where you would lose power. The most cost effective add-on with a setup like yours would be an VAFC and a nice tune. You can get the VAFC for about 200-250$ and a tune for about the same price. If you are going to go this far, I would spring for some kind of intake as well as a test pipe before you get it tuned.

Get a VAFC and Innovative LC-1 Wideband if you want to go the cheapest route...
