You might try greasing the inner portain of the cable..

Thanks! I'm gonna try it out
when my speedo was shaking around it was actually the contacts on my distributor. When my car would not start all the time I cleaned off the contacts where the wires are on my distributor and then my car ran perfect and started everytime... knock on wood. But I realized when I did that my speedo stopped shaking and sputtering. Hopefully that helps too. Good luck
