Can I add 5th gear to my 4spd STD tranny? This tranny is intended for Fuel Economy so I'd like to keep the revs down. I see that the only difference between the STD Tranny and the HF Tranny is the Final Drive and Fifth Gear.
Of course the easier thing would be to source an HF tranny but it's harder to come across them than you think. Plus I know my tranny is in perfect working order. If I can just add a 5th gear and swap out the Final Drives then I'd keep my good tranny and keep the revs low.

and you would have to have an hf 5th cause think about it for a second.... 1st-4th in four speed are very long like way different from 1st-4th in si/dx you would be practically going from fourth revved decently high to 5th and that would really be screaming cause i've drove a 4spd 3rd does like 70 easy then you have 4th still and 5th in and si/dx your cruising pretty high rpms at like 70-80..... just my thought on it though
