sick work man
why didn't you clock the turbo so the compressor outlet was facing the IC?

Tony,
Please come out to my place and invite some friends. I would like to see someone else play throw the hammer and fit that little SOB pipe from the turbo to intercooler LOL!!

Wheel and tire are the reasoning for the positioning of the turbo and pipe work. When I get it installed Ill show you.

thanks,
seb

i was wondering that too but it looks like if he clocked it at that angle making the bend, it wouldn't flow as well. could be wrong tho.

looks great tho. diggin the aluminum welds.... real nice

I would clock the turbo so it faces the ic and get a shorter core so it doesn't get all heat soaked by the manifold (I think that would be way more effiecient), maybe make a heat shield of some sort. Looks nice but I would redo it. Is this seriously in a bike? Who ever is riding that is ****en suecidal.

What type of welder do you have? Just curious if you use a pulse setting when welding alum and how you might have the pulse setting set?

pretty sure it's a drag only bike, so heat soak shouldn't be an issue like it is on a streetcar.

Im going to redo it. Then you can come over and help me figure out where we should relocate the front wheel too LOL!!

My last bike made 647 hp at 34 psi and its a 1.3 liter engine. Thats 497 hp per liter! At the end of the 1/4 mile my intake temps are at 135 on a 90 degree day using 25 psi of boost pressure. This is with using a fast response ptc sensor.

its been asked before, but are you pulsing your welds? very consistant either way.. good work!

Yes it is pulsed. 200hz, .5pps, 50% duty cycle, 42% final amps, 200 amps.

You could put some different forks on it to kick the wheel about 1' forward. lol

if this is a drag bike, i'm curious why you wouldn't go with an air to water i/c, or is there just not enough room for all the other components associated with an air to water setup? nice work btw.

Well for this application, which industrially we would refer to as ornamental, there isn't much of a draw back, because these parts aren't really subject to much stress or pressure. Plus its a lot easier to make pretty looking bead using a slow speed pulse or pumping the pedal. But for industrial applications it is a no no, reason being that those stacks of dimes, under each one is a little fish eye, they often turn into pinholes under pressure. Also the inconsistent penetration create stress risers in the reinforcement area which also leads to weld failure.
