First it's VTEC, and use the "search" function there's lots of threads discussing this topic.

b16s are way overrated.i cant even express my dissapointment the first time i swaped one.id take a turbo d over a b16 any day.ls vtec is stout, but if your going to leave the internals stock, get a b18c.thats just my 2cents.not trying to **** off the b16 guys.but its true.so **** on em.

Even a LS with bolt-ons will make more power

I walked a couple b16's in my D series, maybe they sucked at driving though, who knows. Highly Overrated IMO

ya i was really disappointed in my b16 when i got it i really expected more after driving my first b, but b20vtec have really good torque numbers too, so allgo88 its cool i drive one and feel the same.

I've had a d15, d16z6, ls, ls/vtec, and now a b16, and honestly, the b16 has been the best of all of them.

d15-slow as ****, nothing to do about it but pretend its cool
d16z6- nothing special. faster than dx model civics, but its a d...(non boosted)
ls- great motor, great torque, but its not a performance motor
ls-vtec- great motor, made good power, but for the amount of work I had to do, then to constantly question whether or not it was going to blow up...just not worth it for me
b16- yeah, its small, btu mine is in an 88 hatch that's light as ****. it pulls hard all the time, its reliable...its the best for me personally. I think its fits my chassis perfectly. Now, put it in a heavy *** 99-00 civic coupe, that might be a different story.
