he's talking about the fact that if you replace a stock and dont keep the stock head unit in the car...you will loose your dome light and also if you have the stock keyless entry, that wont work anymore either.....

you have to wire the new headunit into the car and at the same time keep the stock unit connected to a power source...I have mine burried behind where the radio normally sits...its all screwed down and isnt in the way of anything
do a search on yahoo for honda civic radio install.....I remember there being a few good sites that give you step by step instructions on how to wire it all up...hope this helps...............

Yes he is correct, im a car stereo installer at circuit city, there is a harness that we sell that will allow you to wire the stock radio up to the aftermarket and tuck the stock unit behind the dash.. it works perfectly and you keep the keyless entry and domelight it fits back there w/ no problems at all. the kit only costs about $20 bux and is plug and play.. good luck

Really interesting...I have a 97 HX and an Alpine radio. No problems with my dome. I don't have the keyless entry tho. And as far as I know, I have my old stock radio in my storage room.

if the car didnt have keyless entry you will not have any problems w/ the dome light unless the person who installed the alpine unit rewired the domelight..

Head unit, dome light, and alarm worked. I dont kno what I did,but it worked.

no you do not have to leave the radio in the car to get the dome light to work if you do this it a pain in the a$$ for nothing. If you have keless then never mind this but on the back of the radio is the little harness that dosent have speakers and such in it(the small green one i beleive), all you need to do is tap the seafoam green and red and seafoam green and black wires together at least i think those are the colors better check, anywhay tape them together and wala dome light withe doors.

yeah in my 97 hx (w/o keyless entry) i just jumped the two wires (green/red and green/black) with a paper clip and it worked perfectly. If u want a pic of the harness with the clip bent in it or directions on what to do just PM me or AIM me...sn is same as h-t name.

I forget which colors, but u have to cut 2 wires and splice them together. I'll try to get back to you on that.
