anyone here have K-sports or function forms and have issues with busting the steering rod ends ? my buddies been running k-sports on his civic for a while and the tie rod ends keep busting causing a horrible clicking noise when driving and front end vibration. any fixes or ideas to this ?
ill tell you now the reason he is busting them is more than likely attributed to the angle of his tie rod ends. the inners are probably pointing to the moon and the outers are binding up when he turns hard and since they are cast they are the weak link. you can do one of 2 things.
1: buy the T1R inverted end. i think they are junk and they dry out and make noise then eventually break anyway.
2: you can flip your existing tie rod ends and hone out the arm on the coil over. that's the route i went and i have had great success since doing this. OEM units are stronger i feel and i have corrected my bump steer as well by doing this.

harlowe, i havent had an issue with this since the install. i did it with a Titanium step bit in a reg. ol' drill. so now instead of having a taper goin top to bottom big to small its more like a hour glass shapp so if i ever had to go back or anything like that i could and it would still hold. i recommend getting a nice heavy duty washer for up top now and snug it up like normal then a good cotter pin
project dc2, heres a lil diagram that i stole from crsx and used to explain my mod.

heres some pix of the mod done and the success rate...http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread...ht=diy+tie+rod

night and day difference when i did mine. my angles were so bad due to the drop i have, after doing this my tie rods are flatter and more level than most every 7thgen Ive come across at stock height. (rsx, Si or civic)

are they the newer ones with the zerk fittings or w/o? cause i know from the mini truckin that the heim ends that are w/o the fittings will eventually wear out due to the fact that you cant grease them. this results in noise and failure. like when a ball joint goes bad and has play. i just prefer the stock ball joints to a heim (swivel) end.
the 2 factors that come to mind are the amount of articulation/how low are you. this would determine the amount of stress and movement on the T1r type units also dictating how long they will last. and the other would be personal preference i guess.
