advancing the distrubuter

i know this is a noob question, but does anyone know if advanceing the distributer bad or good.?

only do it to set your timing, otherwise doing it wont make any difference except it may shorten engine life. now if ur built and or turbo thats a whole different storry.

you'll notice a little bit if you use better gas. no mid-grade. really though it isn't noticable or really worth it.
