91 CRX DX limp mode?
Hey everyone whats upJust bought a 91 crx, but the CEL is on and engine doesnt go past 3500 rpm. Even before it hits 3500 rpm its not as quick as it should be nor does it rev as fast. I plan on swaping the engine and all but im in the process of moving so thats not gonna happen real soon. Plus I would like my bro to be able to drive this car mean while. Im just barely getting back into Hondas so I feel kinda stupid that Im stumped. I also know that it has a new distributor, not sure where its from etc but the guys gonna let me know tomorrow. Thanks all, any help is welcomed!!
is hte car converted to multiport? and whats the code look under the carpet on the passenger side floor board and see how many times the light blinks i'm going to guess code 4 or 9(if its multiport) and its probably going to be a loose wire at the ecu plug in or wiring at dizzy is wrong( if it was converted) or the dizzy is bad.... cause you can get bad new dizzys i've gotten them.
Mine Was Doing That Before A Meet Didn't Rev Over 3 1/2 but go slow and Finally Reach Over And When Driving Would Lag It slow DpFi 2 but yeah my bro found out that its was the vacum hoses and was moving the distributor seems better now check it out

Thanks for the input guys, Yeah I found the guy who put the dizzy on before I bought the car and he said he got it from another honda. I asked what engine, car etc but he didnt know. He seemed really confused sometimes, eh anyways it looks like it might be obd1?
check the wire going from the dizzy (the blue one i believe) the crank position sensor, mine broke once and did the exact same thing. and i believe 8 flashes is the code for cps
When I asked him and he said he didnt know, that when he bought it from the girl, he saw it and she said it needed a new dizzy and they were gonna send it to get one that day. So i bought the car like that because I figured go for it, he was asking a really low price for the car and everything about the car is solid etc so if it needed a new dizzy then fine. Just didnt wanna buy one if the issue wasnt with the dizzy itself. Anyways

My car did the same thing.
I had to replace the wiring harness, ecu and dizzy.
Wiring harness shorted the ECU which shorted the dizzy :O
Probably not your problem lol.

Hey guys sorry, had to help a friend out of town, so had to leave that day, and I just got back to TX. So I found ot today that the guy never did replace the dizzy. I found the mechanic and he said he only replaced the TB. So this dizzy is NOT new, guess I should just replace it then ey?
